Early Childhood Half Day (three to six years of age)
Our Early Childhood Program, which includes kindergarten, meets five half-days a week. The morning classes begin at 8:15 a.m. and conclude at 11:15 a.m., and the afternoon classes begin at 12:30 p.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m. This program offers a Montessori prepared environment where self-directed learning takes place under the guidance of supportive, observant directresses.
Children use the gymnasium once a week for 40 minutes and receive Spanish class twice a week for 15 minutes. Each classroom has two Montessori trained directresses, or a directress and an intern which offers a 1/11 ratio.
The four Early Childhood Montessori environments are warm and inviting environments with large windows providing lots of natural light. Each has a full complement of Montessori learning materials, a reading loft, a large patio with gardening space, a bathroom and access to the school playground. The Parent Group recently raised $40,000 for the new playground equipment, which the children love.
Parents are always welcome to observe the Early Childhood classes through the one-way windows of the observation rooms.
